Amazing service, sushi choices and the best "No rice" options in OC. Restaurant is super clean and a definite gem. Great specials and happy hour!! Love this place!!

Went back here after Sushi Damu's customer service traumatized me, and honestly, this has become my new favorite OC sushi spot! The yellowtail would literally melt in my mouth, and I love their squid too. Even the rice itself was delicious. It did not fall off of the sushi, and tasted like good sushi rice unlike many places I've been to. Rice to fish ratio was very solid. They were really busy but their servers were all SO NICE! The only thing I was kind of disappointed about was the Takoyaki. It's one of my favorite appetizers but the one here had no octopus in it :( (and I got two orders in case I just got unlucky the first time).

I really wanted to see what many people were talking about when it comes to the rice to fish ratio here at Koyi Sushi. People were right, as my friend called it, the rice portion was "comically" small. I loved that about Koyi sushi because I don't want to fill up on rice. I must say, their sushi rice is well seasoned and I did enjoy eating the tiny amount that each sushi comes with. I came on a weekend so that price was $38.95 per person. It's a bit pricey, but you do get some premium items and you won't be stuffed with rice at this place. Even though you can only order certain premium items once, there are other options that I felt the price is decent for what you get. I did have an issue with the menu and the ordering sheet. There are a few items that are on the AYCE menu, but not on the ordering sheet. For example, the Salmon Skin Handroll is on the menu, but it isn't on the ordering sheet. This is the same with Salmon Handroll on the menu, but the ordering sheet only offers Spicy Salmon. Even though they still made what the menu offered, it was annoying to be told to just "write it in" when there is clearly no space for that on the ordering sheet. The food was good. No one in my party got sick. The service was okay. Overall, not a bad place for AYCE sushi especially if you prefer less rice in your sushi.
